Robert: Thank you for sharing some intimate details of your past and your current belief system relative to education. I've always felt that success in pedagogy, or anything really, was never founded upon systems or acronyms; success is rooted in people. The embedded video and your reflections within this blog are apropos of that assumption, and I think your students and the institution of education are lucky to have you. From a superficial perspective, your blog is well-written, thorough, and enjoyable. I don't see a source citing for the video, but that is a trivial aspect of an otherwise wonderful weblog.
Any job can be a gift as long as it is what we are passionate about. I am blessed that I have the job which brings me more joy throughout the day: teaching. I know others who think teaching is the worst job because it is low pay (relatively) and much bureaucracy. But I don't let those things get to me. I am thankful for all my teachers because they helped me to be who I am today. Tu-Quynh Tra.

Rob, the title of your blog caught my attention right away. Even though I am not a teacher yet, I cant wait to finally be able to contribute to the ESL community success. You clearly presented the information with great examples. I can see your personal touch when I was reading your blog. The video you shared with us is very interesting and inspiring. You made good use of hyperlinks, citations and multimedia in your blog. Great job!
Rob, The title of your blog intrigued me, but the first sentence caught me off guard. I do have a passion for education, but not also to be teacher in the formal sense. Based off the first sentence, I wasn't sure if I should continue, given that I only met one of two criteria for your readership. Joking aside, it's important to know your audience and your potential audience. I know your intention was not to create a sense of black or white for your readership in your opener, but nonetheless it happened for me. So I felt it worth point out. The rest of your post really did resonate with me. I agreed very much with your notion of taking on the profession of teaching as a gift/calling. I also enjoyed to your points about using the profession as conduit to instill confidence and a sense of inspiration in your students. Nicely Done! -Justin C

Rob, You presented a cohesive viewpoint on the importance of teachers. I enjoyed watching Dr. Pierson’s video on experiences many teachers go through with their students. This is a great motivational video for teachers who think that they might want to change professions. It can make them think if there is really a purpose for the gifts they share with their students. Teachers do have a big influence on their students. Your hyperlinks provide great examples of this. Thank you for sharing.
